Screen Australia and Screen NSW have announced major funding for a film of The Best of Adam Sharp to be directed by Toni Collette.
The Rosie Project was voted 34 in the ABC’s Top 100 Australian Books among titles that ranged from The Female Eunuch to Snugglepot and Cuddlepie to The Tree of Man, to Animalia to The Cook’s Companion… This is on the back of coming 54th in Best Books of the 21st Century (Behind Lessons in Chemistry and Eleanor Oliphant but ahead of Curious Incident). And #1 in comedy!

His latest book with Anne Buist, The General Hospital, was published March 2025. It’s the third in the Menzies Mental Health Series which began with The Glass House, a bestseller that’s continuing to attract a lot of interest including a podcast in which people with lived experience discuss the cases.
Graeme Simsion is a former IT consultant who, at the age of fifty, decided to turn his hand to fiction. His novels have since sold more than seven million copies in forty-two languages and all have had screen rights optioned.
The Rosie Project was published in 2013, followed by The Rosie Effect and The Rosie Result, The Best of Adam Sharp, Creative Differences and the Two Steps series with his partner, Anne Buist.
His other books include The Novel Project (how-to), a recipe book narrated by Rosie hero Don Tillman, and two books on data modelling. In the last three years he has worked with Anne on the Menzies Mental Health series ‘your favourite TV medical drama but in a mental health service – in a book’. The series has delivered a #1 bestseller with over 50,000 copies sold in Australia. The third book, published in 2026, is The General Hospital.
