The Rosie series

FILM & TV

‘The most frequent question I get asked at book events is “what’s happening with the Rosie Project movie?” Fair enough: I originally wrote it as a screenplay, Sony optioned it in 2013, and there’s been a lot of news with stars coming and going. But pretty-much all of my books, including the ones with Anne (Buist) have been optioned. I don’t like awake thinking about them: I learned a long time ago that it’s not worth losing sleep over things that are out of your control. I think of them as lottery tickets…one day I hope I’ll get a pleasant surprise. Rosie not being made has its upside: the portrayal of Don’s autism in the context of comedy is a delicate business and I’d hate to see it done badly. In fact, I think concern of that kind have been part of the delay.’
